  2. Jobs of the Nervous System • This system includes your brain, spinal cord and the nerves throughout your body • Also includes sense organs like eyes and ears

  3. Jobs of the Nervous System • Your nervous system operates in 3 different ways: • Receiving Information • Responding to Information • Maintaining Homeostasis • What is a Stimulus? A Response? • Homeostasis: stability of an organisms internal environment

  4. Neurons • Neuronsare cells that carry information through your nervous system • The information neurons carry are called nerve Impulses • Impulses travel up 120 meters per second

  5. Neurons Structure • The impulse is then sent away from the Neuron through an Axon(like arteries) • Neurons have a nucleus inside a Cell Body • Impulses come to the Cell Body from Dendrites
