  1. AMS-02 Rebaselining OutbriefUF-4.1 Flight and Manifest Payload Mission Integration & Planning/OZ2 7/15/04 Robert Miley/OZ2 281-226-4968

  2. Purpose & Manifest Source • The purpose of this presentation is: • Provide ISS Program overview of UF-4.1 flight and cargo manifest Manifest source: • POP 2004 Assembly Sequence • UF-4.1 cargo manifest is a totally unpressurized flight – launch 1/08 • Final ascent performance hits from return to flight requirements – TBD  AMS-02 up mass not affected • Primary payloads • AMS-02 • TBD - Cross Bay Carrier (Express Pallet-1 or ORUs) • Secondary payloads • ISS Sidewall Carriers (Port and Starboard)

  3. CAWG Flight Assessment Space Shuttle Consolidated Analysis Working Group (CAWG): • Shuttle CAWG AMS-02 assessment completed - no further planned work at this time • AMS-02 Orbiter payload bay loads capability assessment reported out Apr 2003 • Compatibility assessment for AMS-02 loads and ROEUs completed at keel trunnion locations - X0 1167.33 and X0 1175.20 • AMS-02 CDR baseline payload bay keel trunnion X0 1175.20 • AMS-02 longeron trunnion locations at X0 1163.40 and X0 1242.07 • Lockheed Martin re-assessed AMS-02 compatibility with Orbiter in May 2004 • Shuttle dynamic close clearance assessment – VLA template L-9 months • No known loads issues with AMS-02 keel located at X0 1175.20

  4. CAWG Flight Assessment • CAWG UF-4.1 Cargo Flight Assessment – 3/18/04

  5. PICB Agreements Program Integration Control Board (PICB): • Provided ISS Program awareness of the minimum clearance between AMS-02 and the static berthed payload envelope for the adjacent upper outboard S3 PAS site while berthing or removing AMS-02 from its S3 site • Clearance of 1.5-inches while berthing AMS-02 to static berthed payload envelope excessively small with worst case misalignments assessment • Requested PICB concurrence to constraint for the S3 upper outboard PAS location to remain vacant while AMS-02 occupies the S3 upper inboard PAS site • PICB accepted constraint to keep S3 zenith outboard PAS site empty during AMS-02 3-year on-orbit mission life • Proceed with a waiver for AMS-02, which is outside the static payload envelope, based on the Jun 2003 assessment • Original PICB Jun 2003 agreement based on an ISS assembly sequence and payload traffic model which have changed • Remaining compressed flight schedule and payload traffic model may require re-evaluation of the existing PICB agreements

  6. ISS Program Work • Clearance issue – MAGIK AI #1705 • Clearance of 1.5-inches while berthing AMS-02 to static berthed payload envelope excessively small with worst case misalignments assessment
