  3. 16 KAR 7:010 Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (Amendments)

  4. AMENDMENTS RELATED TO ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS Section 5(1) …All documents and reports shall be submitted through the electronic reporting system, or by hard copy if the electronic reporting system is unavailable…

AMENDMENTS RELATED TO OBSERVATIONS Section 5 (1):(2):(4) The chair, resource teacher, & the teacher educator shall: Make three (3) official observation visits to the teacher intern’s classroom with each observation visit lasting one (1) hour or (1) class period; or Two (2) observations lasting one (1) hour in duration or one (1) class period followed by an observation of the teacher intern's one (1) hour videotaped classroom lesson…

  6. Section 5(4) The Teacher Educator shall: (b) Conduct a lesson plan review prior to each of the three (3) observations and a postobservation conference after each observation; (c) Report progress observed and concerns to the committee at the scheduled committee meetings…

AMENDMENTS RELATED TO EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES Section 6(3) (3) If the teacher intern is unable to complete the internship within one school year…an interim report shall be submitted to the EPSB within ten (10) days of the date the internship ceases. Under extraordinary circumstances and with the approval of the EPSB staff, the teacher intern may continue the internship… notwithstanding the provisions of Section 4 of this administrative regulation.

  8. AMENDMENTS RELATED TO THE PILOT PROJECT Section 8(4) Incentives for two (2) year pilot project participants shall include… (f) A stipend of $1,400 paid to the mentor by the Education Professional Standards Board upon completion of the first year mentoring duties…

  9. Section 8(4) (g) The $1,400 stipend shall apply retroactively to those mentors who served under the previous version of this administrative regulation which provided a $1,000 stipend. In such cases, the EPSB shall forward the supplemental $400 to the mentor after the effective date of this administrative regulation. (h) A stipend of $1,800 paid to the mentor who has at the time of appointment as a mentor, attained certification by National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

  10. Section 8(6) During the second year of the internship pilot project, the teacher intern and the beginning teacher committee shall utilize the Kentucky Internship Pilot Project Portfolio and KTIP Portfolio Scoring Rubric .

AMENDMENTS RELATED TO IECE Section 12 (will become Section 11) An intern serving the internship in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) must successfully demonstrate the new teacher standards as adapted to the IECE standards and shall utilize the IECE Observation Instrument incorporated by reference.

  13. AMENDMENTS RELATED TO MENTORING Section 5 (2)(a) The resource teacher, upon completion of Kentucky Teacher Internship Program Training and upon appointment, shall begin to render assistance to the teacher intern.

  14. Mentoring Descriptions Content versus Context “I spent an hour talking with the intern about how to create a better portfolio.” • versus • “ The intern and I drove to the state fair and during the hour drive we discussed the portfolio.”

  15. OBSERVATION DATES • Observation dates in the KTIP Resource Guide are suggestions • Use the guidelines to ensure submission due dates are met: • May 1 – Electronic RTT for the spring semester • May 1 – Electronic Final Reports (EPI-12) for full-year teacher interns • May 15 – Electronic Interim Reports (EPI-20) for spring semester interns

  16. LESSON PLAN COMPONENTS While the exact Lesson Plan Format provided in the KTIP Resource Guide does not have to be used, ALL components within the Lesson Plan Format must be included in the intern’s lesson plans.

  17. SHARING USERNAMES & PASSWORDS It is not permissible to disclose your username & password. • These are your legal signature, and you are required to electronically sign. By logging in to the system & signing, you are indicating agreement with the documentation. • EPSB Staff is permitted to disclose username and password to individual users only. • Steps involved to complete the online portion of the RTIY for the principal http://breeze.elearnportal.com/p49918284 Though principal specific, the same procedures are described for all committee members.

  18. ePAY • Once all committee members sign off during the committee meeting, the successful intern will be prompted to use ePay • If intern does not use ePay during the committee meeting, once all sign offs on Final Report are completed, intern may log back in and will be prompted to use ePay • ePay accepts credit cards only; no electronic checks, as first communicated • Successful interns not using ePay should send a money order or cashier's check payable to the Kentucky State Treasurer to the KTIP District Coordinator to be sent to the EPSB
