Statistics • According to NAFSA Association of International Educators, only about 1% of college students currently enrolled in universities study abroad • I WANT TO CHANGE THAT
The Show • What is it? 1 hour adventure reality show • Who will participate? 12 teams of 2 • Where to broadcast? CBS – broadcasts original Amazing Race • (13thyear, 24thseason)
The Audience • mainly to college students • Hope it will encourage more students to study abroad • fans of the original Amazing Race and other adventure reality shows like Survivor • Same general concept
The Contestants • Ages 18-21 • Current Study Abroad students at 12 different universities in Europe
The Competition • At each pit stop, teams would have to complete specific tasks relating to that country. • After completing a task, the teams will receive points towards their score. • The team with the most points at the end of the game will win a trip to the destination of their choice.
At the pit stop • After arriving, contestants spend a few days studying at each pit stop, learning about the culture & customs • Have a chance to interact with fans – both locals & other study abroad students • Website so people can see where contestants are • Will be broadcasted in the ‘host country’
Advertisers • Travel companies (Expedia, Travelocity) • Free trips to winners of each leg • Water companies (Aquafina, Poland Spring) • Will be supplied to contestants
Non-elimination Game • to form bonds with contestants throughout the entire race • Host of The Amazing Race, Phil Keoghan- gives advice to the teams before the start • Not to isolate themselves from the rest of the group.
“Crazy things will happen” • Challenges are exciting to watch • College students will be able to travel/complete tasks that the adults did
