  2. Population & Transportation Data • The Redcliffe Area had a population of 79,122 in 2006 Census with a growth rate of 4.2% per annum. This equates to a current population of approximately 89,515. • There are currently two taxi booking companies operating in the Redcliffe Area, Black and White Cabs Pty Ltd and Yellow Cabs Pty Ltd. • There are currently 36 operational taxi licences in Redcliffe. • Transport Transit Authority (previously TransLink) also contract a number of bus transport providers in the area.

Comments from venues • Taxis servicing venues between 9:00pm and 2:00am have always been an issue with lengthy delays. • Transport availability meets demand majority of time. • Competition between venues for cabs to service. • TransLink to provide night bus services in the area. • Difficult to get cabs to venues after 7:00pm. • Bus services between 7:00pm – 10:00pm need to be provided for venue staff and patronages. • Transport issue occur between 11:00pm – 1:00am on Fridays and 10:00pm – 12:00am on Saturdays.

Transport and Main Roads role in maintaining transport services • A Service Contract is an agreement between the chief executive, Transport and Main Roads and the provider or operator of certain public passenger transport services. • Transport and Main Roads currently maintains Service Contracts with Black and White Cabs Pty Ltd, and Yellow Cabs (Qld) Pty Ltd. The TransLink Transit Authority also maintains Service Contracts with local bus companies in the Redcliffe area. • During the period of a Service Contract, formal periodic assessments may be undertaken to assess the contract-holder’s performance against the minimum service levels (MSL) or key performance indicators (KPI) specified in the contract. The MSLs and KPIs of a Service Contract may be amended to reflect changing needs of the travelling public or commercial considerations.

  13. Where to from here • Findings and comments from the Redcliffe LIAG Transportation Survey to be progressed through to Black and White Cabs Pty Ltd and Yellow Cabs (Qld) Pty Ltd, and also to the TransLink Transit Authority (TTA) for their consideration.
