Picture-Word Inductive Model Students: • Develop sight-word vocabulary using pictures. • Use inductive reasoning to sort words into categories. • Learn to write sentences. • Have multiple chances to hear and read words. Intended for beginning readers, but has been extended to content vocabulary.
Picture-Word Induction ModelSteps • Select a picture. • Ask a student to identify what they see in the picture. • Ask students to label the picture parts. • Use “picture” dictionary to read the words
Picture-Word Induction ModelSteps • Students classify the words into groups. • Review the picture word chart (Say the word, Spell it, Say it again) • Add words • Ask students to write about the sentence. • Read and review the sentences.
