Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management Presented to FGDC Coordination Group January 10, 2002 byJulie Binder Maitra FGDC Standards Coordinator
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management • FGDC Standards Process • Content of Standard • Vote on Coordination Group approval for FGDC endorsement
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management • FGDC endorsed Geospatial Positioning Accuracy Standards, Parts 1, 2, and 3, in 1998 • Part 1, Reporting Methodology FGDC-STD-007.1-1998 • Part 2, Geodetic Control Networks FGDC-STD-007.2-1998 • Part 3, National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy FGDC-STD-007.3-1998
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management • Geospatial Positioning Accuracy Standard, Parts 1-3, addressed spatial data referenced to national datums such as NAD 83 and NAVD 88 • FGDC Facilities WG, chaired by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, identified need for accuracy standards for A/E/C and Facility Management data that may be not be referenced to national datums
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management • FGDC Facilities Working Group developed Part 4 from USACE standards and DOD Tri-Service Facility Engineering CADD/GIS standards • Part 4 provides • accuracy criteria, testing methodology, and reporting criteria for engineering drawings, maps, and surveys • informative annex for specifying accuracy criteria for A/E/C features and control surveys
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management FGDC Standards Process • Facilities WG developed Part 4 in 1996-1998 • Public Review in first half of 1999 • FGDC announced public review to State Councils, 90 state GIS contacts, and readers of several news lists (NSDI-L, etc) • Facilities WG sent standard to several professional societies for comment • Presentations to CADD/GIS Symposium sponsored by USACE and Army, Navy, Air Force
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management • FGDC Standards Process, continued. • Few comments received during public review, and those comments were non-controversial • FGDC Standards Working Group voted unanimously to recommend Part 4 for Coordination Group
Geospatial Positioning Accuracy StandardsPart 4: Standards for Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) and Facility Management Request for Action: Vote on Coordination Group approval for FGDC endorsement Thank you!
