The macaw parrot is a type of parrot that originates from South America and Africa. • Macaw’s parrots are very colorful birds, and even in the same species their colors are as unique as a finger print. • Many people will recognize the macaw from pirate movies as being the parrot that sits on the shoulder of the captain. • The lifespan of the macaw parrot ranges from 15 to 30 years depending on how well looked after they are. • Unlike other large birds the Macaw is not a bird of prey, they like fruits, berries and nuts though nuts usually are not found in the wild.
