Goal I: Stanly County Schools will produce globally competitive students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes, necessary to be responsible contributing students. • EOC scores less than 80%: Biology 74.5%, Civics and Economics 64.9%, English I 71.5%, Physical Science 71.1%, United States History 60.2% Writing 65%. South Stanly High School
Objectives for Goal I • 1.1.1 SSHS will increase test scores in Biology, Civics and Economics, Physical Science, United States History and Writing. For all 2009-2010 scores below: 70% will show growth of at least 10%; 70- 89% will show growth of at least 5%; 90+% will show growth of 2-3%. South Stanly High School
Objectives for Goal I • 1.1.2 SSHS will meet expected and/or high growth, on EOC Exit Standards. • 1.2. SSHS will meet Adequate Yearly Progress as measured by No Child Left Behind within all subgroups for English I and Algebra I. **Athletic practices will not begin prior to 4:00 in order for all students to attend study hall and receive additional tutorial time with classroom teachers. Objectives for Goal I • 1.4 SSHS 2009-2010 writing scores will show growth of at least 5%. • 1.5 SSHS will close the Achievement Gap by 5% growth. • 1.6 SSHS will have ActiveBoards, ActiVotes and mounted LCD projectors in all classrooms. * Mini Labs will be placed in centrally located classrooms for student use. * Each classroom has received a new desktop computer specifically designated for student use. Goal I Action Plan • Odyssey and Castle Software. • Hands on activities. • English I: inclusion and team teaching with EC specialists. *Susan Norris will assist SSHS on each Tuesday with the NCGP. * All teachers will use “Writing Across Curriculum.” Staff development will be held in house by the English Department. Goal II: SCS will be led by 21st Century professionals with skills to deliver 21st century content in a 21st century context. • Administrators treat all faculty/staff fairly and consistently. • Instructional time is rarely interrupted. • Teachers will receive the Golden Apple Award for perfect attendance. • All teachers received a new desktop, laptop and projectors for use in the classroom • Teachers will receive staff development on new 21st century technology. Goal II Action Plan • Informal survey of teachers regarding professional environment • Monitor interruptions to instructional time *Students will be pulled from their breaks for incident reports. *SSHS news broadcasts will be viewed immediately following afternoon break. South Stanly High School
Goal III: Stanly County students will be healthy and responsible. • Cohort graduation rate increased in 2008-2009. • All students will follow the Healthy Active Child Legislation. South Stanly High School
Objectives for Goal III • 3.1.1 SSHS attendance will increase 1%. • 3.1.2 SSHS Dropout rate will decrease by 5%. • 3.1.3 SSHS Cohort graduation rate will be 80%. • 3.2 SSHS will develop and update annually its school Emergency Management Plan. South Stanly High School
Goal III Action Plan • Identify potential high risk students via Progressive Algebra classes. • Teachers are available before and after school for additional help. • The principal will sign very limited numbers of students to transfer to SCC, and only for hardship cases. • I’m a Girl Club will promote self esteem, build character and encourage positive attitudes. • Use DREAM team to promote and encourage high standards. Goal III Action Plan • Drop Out Prevention Conference. • Additional locations for monitoring student arrival and departure by faculty and staff. • Better communication with parents about the need to stay in school all day. • Computer lab opened after school for students in need. • School messenger will remind parents to send a note upon student return after an absence.
