Audience- 2nd – 3rd graders Objectives- students will learn the basic rules, positions, scoring, and objectives of tennis and will be quizzed at the end. Environment- students will be by themselves at individual computers Application- will have questions and reviews throughout the power point to keep them “on their toes.” Evaluation- There will be a quiz at the end of the power point to evaluate what they have learned. STANDARDS (Indiana Academic Standards) - 2.1.10: Identify simple meaning words - 2.2.4: Ask and respond to questions to aid comprehension about important elements of informational texts. References

-Opponents stand on opposite sides of the court. -The player who delivers the ball starts the point is called the server -The person who stands at the opposite side who gets the ball is the receiver
The right to serve, receive, choose sides is decided by a coin toss
-The server stands behind the baseline on the court within the boundaries of the court. -The server shall not serve until the receiver is ready BACK TO QUIZ QUESTION
The server always calls his score first Back to quiz question
-If a player wins his first point, the score is 15-0 -On winning a second point, that player has 30 -His third point will be 40, and then one more point will win the game. -If both players won three points, the score is called a deuce.
All- indicates the scores are level. Example: 15 all means both players have a score of 15 BACK TO QUIZ QUESTION
Deuce- if score becomes 40 all, the score is called a deuce, and then the winner of the game is the first player to now win two points in a row. BACK TO QUIZ QUESTION
Fault- a serve which hits the net and/or lands outside the service box.
Rally- the exchange of shots between players. -a rally starts when the receiver returns the serve and ends when the point is won BACK TO QUIZ QUESTION
Singles- a two player game (one verse one). Doubles- a four player game (two verse two). BACK TO QUIZ QUESTION
