  3. Critical Race Theory Built on two insights 1) Critical legal studies: “legal indeterminacy” 2) Feminism power and social roles examined

  4. Basic Tenets • Racism as the common experiences of most people of color • Material and psychological benefits to majority group

  5. Basic Tenets • Multiple-layered identity in a person and in a group • Minority status with a presumed competence to speak about race and racism

  6. Criticism on CRT • The minority status does not guarantee expertise. • Distortion of public discourse • Radical multi-culturalism • Market Theory • Model Minority
