02/11/13Filling out the Frog Organ Function Sheet • Read the passage on the outside of your Key sheet. Read ONCE for understanding. Read TWICE to find the function of the organ and write it in your table. • Complete the function for all 25 organs. Use the reading to help you for those organs found only in frogs. Refer back to your notes for the organs that are found in BOTH humans and frogs.
Organ Functions • A tube that food travels in to the stomach. • Chemical & mechanical digestion occurs. • Nutrients are absorbed by blood vessels. • Indigestible material is stored until released. • Exit chamber for the a frog’s waste. • Makes digestive juices. • Makes white blood cells. • Stores urine. • Filter waste from the blood. • Produce sperm. • Makes bile. • Stores bile. • Provide a site for gas exchange. • Pumps blood.

02/13/13 Frog Sandwich Assembly Frog Sandwich… YUM! Cutting the Frog 1. CAREFULLY cut out your frog- no jagged edges! 2. CAREFULLY cut out each organ - no jagged edges, DO NOT cut off the lettered tabs! 3. CAREFULLY cut out dissection tools! 4. In the middle, glue down your dissection tool box and glue your tools down around it as decoration! Dissection Tools Mr. Willard Class period ___
Pasting down items • Fold your “Key and Colors/Organ Function” sheet in half like an INB sheet and paste it down. • Paste the back of the head on the back side of your frog’s head. • For all organs to be pasted down, you will lightly dab the FOLDED tab into your dollop of glue and match up the lettered tabs as follows.
The following organs must be pasted down in this order: • Paste the testes by tabs A1 & A2 to A1 & A2 on the frog • Paste the digestive system by tab B1 to B1 on the frog • Paste the bladder by tab C to C on the frog • Paste the lungs by tab D to D on the frog • Paste the liver lobes by tab B2 OVER tab B1 of the digestive system on the frog • Paste the heart by tab E to E on the frog • Paste the mandible by tab F to F on the frog • Paste the nuptial pad by tab G to G on the frog hand • Paste the belly by tab H to H at the tip of the frog head so that all the internal organs are covered (be careful not to paste down your mandible in the process!!) Let everything dry for a few minutes before closing
