  1. Grammar warm up Use your “in-class” notebook to write your answers to the following questions.

  2. A sentence is a group of words which express a complete thought. • Directions: number a page from your notebook 1-5.

  3. Write S for each group of words that is a sentence. Write N for each group that is not a sentence Example: N Flew 852 feet. This is not a complete sentence because it does not express a complete thought. We, as readers, do not know What “flew 852 feet” (no subject). N The wind across the sand. This sentence is not complete because we don’t know what the wind across the sand is doing (no verb).

  4. Write S for each group of words that is a sentence. Write N for each group that is not a sentence • On the same day, December 17th. • To try the airplane. • Wilbur was the first to try the plane. • These early flights were just the beginning. • This unsuccessful flight.

  6. You put a before the words that starts with a consonant sound and an before words that start with a vowel sound.

  8. To form the plural of nouns that end in a consonant and ychange the y toi and add es. Singular library balcony Plural libraries balconies

  9. If a noun ends in a vowel and y, just add s. Singular key joy Plural keys joys

  10. Rewrite each sentence with the correct plural of the underlined words. Many country celebrate different holiday. They have different story and custom. The youngest baby through the oldest adult celebrate with family.
