  2. All I Have is Christ • Verse 1: I once was lost in darkest night yet thought I knew the way, The sin that promised joy and life had led me to the grave. I had no hope that you would own a rebel to Your will, And if you had not loved me first, I would refuse you still.

Those who are according to the flesh • 8:5a • 8:6a • 8:7-8 • 8:9b • 8:13a • Set their minds on the things of the flesh. • For the mind set on the flesh is death. • Hostile toward God • Does not subject itself to the law of God • Not even able to do so • Cannot please God • Does not have the Spirit of Christ • Does not belong to Him • Must die

  4. All I Have is Christ • Verse 2: But as I ran my hell-bound race indifferent to the cost, You looked upon my helpless state and led me to the cross. And I beheld God’s love displayed you suffered in my place, You bore the wrath reserved for me, now all I know is grace.

Those who are according to the Spirit • 8:5b • 8:6b • 8:9 • 8:10-11 • Set their minds on the things of the Spirit • Eternal things, Heavenly things (Col. 3:1-2) • The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace • The Spirit of Christ dwells in you • Your spirit is alive because of righteousness • The Spirit will give life to your mortal bodies

The Work of the Spirit • He frees us from sin and death (2-3) • Enables us to fulfill God’s law (4) • Changes our nature and grants us strength for victory over our unredeemed flesh (5-13) • Confirms our adoptions as God’s children (14-16) • Guarantees our ultimate glory (17-30) • Including intervention in prayer (26-27)

  7. All I Have is Christ • Verse 3: Now Lord I would be Yours alone and live so all might see, The strength to follow Your commands could never come from me. O Father, use my ransomed life in any way you choose, And let my song forever be my only boast is You.

  8. We have an Obligation to live by the Spirit Romans 8: 12 – 14 So then brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh . . . but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body you will live. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

  9. The Sons of God • 8:15 • 8:16 • 8:17 • We have received a spirit of adoption as sons • We are Children of God • We are heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ

  10. Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burden is light”
