Route Development & Communities Partnerships • Route Development is a key activity for the Communities airport serve. • Built a strong relationship among interested Agents in the Community is another key issue. • Tourism Authorities are one of the major agents in air services development for their Region or Country.

How to build a Relationship? • Creation of Routes Committee e.g. Barcelona, Spain (2004), Baja California Sur and Jalisco, Mexico (2006), Quito, Ecuador (2009) • Routes Committee is created by Airport Authority in order to generate synergies among interested parties in developing new air services to the area.

  6. How to build a Relationship? OBJECTIVE Establish and develop policies and strategies in order to concentrate all efforts, either economic or strategic, of interested agents. Defining target destinations and airlines, according to market strategic principles with the aim of being a SINGLE VOICE in front of airlines

  7. How to build a Relationship? Steps to follow • Contact and present project to Tourism Authorities (State or Regional) or Chamber of Commerce Authorities. • Jointly establish who will be part of the Committee (Hotels, City Hall, Travel Agents, etc:) • Establish Procedures: • Chairmanship: It should be the Tourism Authority • Secretary: It should be the Airport Authority • Frequency of meetings: 4 times / year

  9. Routes Committee Roles of Parties Airport Authority: It should lead and present statistics of traffic evolution, target markets and airlines, as well as incentive programs. Tourism Authorities: they should co-lead the Group and present tourism strategies and promotion funds available. Other Parties: they should participate contributing with all information available of their respective areas of activity, as well as available funds

Routes Committee Present to one or several airlines a market analysis & business case of a certain route, offering a COMPLETE PACKAGE of incentives (discounts, advertising, tourism promotion, etc.) So the airline will be sure that all interested agents in the area are involved in the proposal.

  11. Routes Committee ROUTES COMMITEE is a good tool to AVOID INDIVIDUAL PROTAGONISMS and MISUSE OF RESOURSES
