Ernest Rutherford By: Albert, Brian, and Charlie
Biography Ernest Rutherford was born on August 30, 1871 in Nelson New Zealand. He went to Cambridge as research student and worked under J.J Thomson. He would later return to England as a professor of physics at Cambridge. He and professor Thomson worked to study alpha and beta rays in uranium radiation. He died in Cambridge on October 19, 1937 and his ashes were buried in Westminster Abby.
Experiment Rutherford hypothesized that if the particles go through the gold foil the particles would be slightly deflected. To test his hypothesis he shot particles at the gold foil hoping it would slightly deflect. With this he could gather information on the foil, by measuring the deflected particles. With this information he could understand the structure of the foil.
