Strategy Revisions • Now on Version 10 of the original strategy • Tweaks along the way include: • County alignment • Adding green technology and green buildings to niche markets • Reworked “organization” chart – Formalized the Innovation Crescent Regional Partnership made up of members of each Chamber and ED entities • For Western IC additions – added new members to the Home and Implementation Team (Technical Colleges, WIBs, County ED) • Have meshed with the Supply Chain Management Regional Initiative (overlay)
Industry Network Revitalization • Phase I: (November 2009- April 2010) • Determine the vision and mission of the ICIN for the future • Develop the necessary organizational structure to lead the team of industry leaders in driving the plans • Recruit at least five new industry leaders • Confirm needs analysis already completed and supplement as required to develop a clear picture of the opportunities for development of most interest to bio sciences companies • Figure out the required financial underpinnings to fund future plans and the organizational structure.

Focus on Current Work Force Work Ready Certificates - over 14,000 individuals certified as Work Ready in the IC USDOL - $1.99M to fund bioscience workforce development pipeline: - Gwinnett and Athens Tech (Bio Technology Associate Degree) 2009 graduation – 22 2009 Fall enrollment - 114 40 students on track to graduate in June 2010 7

Focus on Emerging Workforce Development of BIOTECHNOLOGY CAREER PATHWAYS • Increase student interest in and exposure to biosciences through existing science courses; • Launch biotechnology high school courses; • Address articulation issues to eliminate repetition of content; • Utilize pilot experience to guide replication in other schools. 11
Career Pathways Update Over 300 high school students began the new statewide biotechnology curriculum this fall More High Schools in Innovation Crescent are launching in fall 2010 through Work Ready Region funding and self-funding Plus West Lambert HS – Forsyth County Beach High School – Savannah-Chatham County Schools 12
Current 7 schools may grow to 20 in 2010 Gwinnett –Central Gwinnett, Brookwood, Peachtree Ridge, Gwinnett School of Math, Science and Tech; DeKalb - Dunwoody High Barrow – Apalachee High and Winder-Barrow, plus dual enrollment at LTC Out of IC: West Lambert (Forsyth) and Savannah-Chatham (Beach) Cobb – to launch January 2010 at South Cobb High and Wheeler Clayton – Drew – Fall 2010 Fulton – Creekside – Fall 2010 Walton Career Academy DeKalb – Columbia and Arabia Mountain in 2010 Gwinnett – adding at least one school in 2010 Atlanta Public Schools – launching PLTW in fall 2010
