IBA WHAT? Interest Based Approach • January 8 through 12, 1993 (5-day training session) • 24 district members of the negotiating teams staff / 3 Board members participated • HUGE success! Early agreement development • Commitment to the process for future negotiations/discussions. • Benefits better communications, improved understanding, and enhanced relationships built on mutual trust and respect.

IBA Workshop Goals To increase the understanding and promote the use of the interest based approach to communication and decision making within the Los Rios Community College District.
IBA Workshop Objectives • To introduce attitudes, skills, and practices which promote effective staff relationships. • To encourage essential elements of effective negotiations. • To provide tools and techniques for effective communication, decision making, and consensus building.
