Recommendations for Going Forward with Lean Projects Observations from Team regarding commitment / success to recent lean events: • Action items being put on back burner • Gaps in communication between C/O & X/O and department heads • Have department heads report status at Department Head Meetings • Give people designated time to work on action items (ie. Entire week after VSM) • Make it mandatory for Department Heads to attend close out meetings • 1st and 2nd level management can’t be effectively in charge / responsible for VSMs • The 5S projects have been successful due to the accountability / responsibility of the first line supervisors. • Need to make sure appropriate personnel are attending close out meetings (ie. Critiques) • Identify impacts upstream and downstream when conducting projects and making recommendations • Need to connect VSM (big picture) • PMA, GF, Dept. Heads – need to attend briefing
