E N D
History The University was founded in 1948 and it was called as Hungarian University of Economic Sciences. Before the mentioned date, they taught economics in Budapest only at a faculty as part of the Royal Hungarian University. In 1953, the institution received a new name after Karl Marx. In the ’60s, the management and the professors decided to change the education rules and started teaching the market-orientated economics, too. One decade later, radical reforms took place at the University.
In 1991, after the fall of the Hungarian communist regime, the institution had a new name – Budapest University of Economic Sciences – until 2000, when the integration of new faculties such as the Faculty of Public Administration ended. The Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration was transformed to Corvinus Universityof Budapest finally in 2004 when the former University of Horticulture joined the institution. In 2005, construction of a new building began and the Facutly of Social Sciences hopefully can move to its new campus in September, 2007.
