Intent of this Class • Explore careers, jobs and post secondary education • Learn how to prepare a resume (using Microsoft Word) • Discuss and practice interviewing • What does a successful interview look like? What does a “needing improvement” interview look like? • What are the behaviors and traits employers look for? • What are some common questions employers will ask? • What do you wear? • Practice writing a cover letter • Get more familiar and comfortable with the computer • Have fun!!

How to be successful in this class… Treat this class like a job! • Class times • Respect school rules and one another • No food/drink or cellphones please • Take care of your computer station • Participate in assignments • Free time not entirely free • Perfect attendance through the final day of class • Be curious, courteous and have fun!

  5. In Microsoft Word, can you tell me…. • Your full name (Centered, 3D and in your favorite color) • What country are you from and how many years have you been here? (blue font, size 18) • Why are you taking that class? What are you hoping to get out of it? (3-4 sentences, Harrington font, indented) • List and bullet point 3 jobs in which you’re interested (bolded of your font choice) • What is an interesting fact about you that people don’t know? (underlined and italics) • What is your favorite dish and sport from your native country? (insert picture of your flag) Then save your document under your name
