Challenges • There has been a long period of juxtaposition of IITA and IRAD activities in Cameroon. (no real collaboration except NCRE, essentially work with scientists from other IITA locations).
Challenges • Priority setting • Consultation with NARS was lacking, has improved now. E.g Agroforestry not a priority in the HF • Resource limitation • Remains a serious constraint • Access to resources available in IITA • Information: additional effort needed
Above the challenges: Networking • Interactions with many IITA Scientists and many International organizations (PROMEC, PAEM’S, DANIDA, APS, ICRISAT, PEDUNE, AFNETA, FAO, ADB, FDA, WECAMAN, MINAGRI/RSP/GTZ, etc.). • Creation of APHYCEM (Association des Phytopathologistes de la Zone CEMAC). • Workshop scheduled in November 2005, in Dschang, Cameroon, for which we are seeking support from IITA and other organizations.
