How does the writer support his/her ideas: facts, statistics, anecdotes (short stories)? 3. Compare and Contrast: Where do the sources agree or disagree 4. Make Connections: Relate the writer’s message to other writers and their works. Is it the same different? 5. Synthesize: Put it all together: What are the writers trying to say and be prepared to discuss the topic maybe through a research paper, a speech, or a letter.
