Behavior Management In the classroom, it is my belief to use positive reinforcement, direct, and positive language to manage the behavior in the classroom. • Logical consequences – taking breaks, chill out spot, loss of privilege , ‘you break it, you fix it’ consequence • Various positive reinforcement themes throughout the year- CBG Tickets (Caught Being Good) • Knowledge of Levels of Behavior – Clip System (Discipline Without Stress) • Whole class cookie compliments incentive

  11. Birthday Books! • Preferably a new book • Whole class signs it • Return at the end of the year • Summer Birthdays • We do not celebrate with food

  12. Snack • Due to our long afternoon, we will be enjoying a healthy snack in between our learning. Please pack your child a healthy snack everyday. Pack a snack that can be enjoyed on the go. Our classroom is nut free. Please refer to the provided snack list and only give your child a snack from the approved snack list. Thank you for your cooperation!

Homework • Your child should only be spending about 10 minutes on their homework • Some of the homework will include math home links, spelling and high frequency words, weekly word problems, and book bags • Please make sure you read with your child each night • Homework Folder (BEE Binder): Please place all notes for me in your child’s Homework folder. Clean out the “Keep at Home” section daily.

  14. Volunteering I welcome parents into the classroom to help. Please refer to the Volunteer Packet in your folder for more information. In January we will need volunteers for mystery readers

  15. Additional Info. • Fifteen minute conferences will be held in early November and again in the spring. • Report Cards will be sent home in January and June. • Please do not wait until report cards or conferences if you have any questions or concerns. I am always here for you and willing to set up a conference by phone or in person should it be necessary. • E-mail is my preferred method of communication (unless it is a change in your child’s schedule-ALWAYS CALL THE MAIN OFFICE.) • Please send me an e-mail, note or voicemail with any questions, concerns, or pleasant thoughts!

  17. MOST IMPORTANTLY!! • Enough sleep, a good breakfast, consistent attendance, reading to/with your child as much as possible, and lots of love are a few of the best things you can do for your first grader!
