Government’s specialized body with the mission to formulate, apply, coordinate, monitor and evaluate R&D and innovation policies, in accordance with the Government Strategy and Programmes. Fulfills the responsibilities and undertakes the attributes of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports (MERYS) in the field of research, technological development and innovation. Promoting the creation and development of S&T knowledge, with view on obtaining high level, internationally competitive, S&T results; 2. Increasing the competitiveness of the Romanian economy, by promoting the diffusion and transfer of S&T knowledge and the innovation processes with strong economic impact; 3. INNOVATION PROMOTION, TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND SUCCESSFUL TECHNOLOGY LICENSING Research, Development and InnovationSystem(RDI System) • RDI System is the engine for the development of the Romanianknowledge society, with the capacity to sustain performance throughinnovation in all areas contributing to the welfare of the citizens,while reaching scientific excellence recognized at international level. • RDI System in Romania has the role to develop science and technology,in order to increase the competitiveness of the Romanian economy, toimprove the social quality and to enhance the knowledge likely to bevalorised and to be used for expanding the horizon of action. • RDI System has three strategic objectives: • 1. INNOVATION PROMOTION, TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND SUCCESSFUL TECHNOLOGY LICENSING The National Plan for Research,Development and Inovation ( 2007-2013) – NPII The National Research, Development and Innovation Plan for the period 2007-2013,is themain instrument by whichthe National Authority for ScientificResearch (NASR) is implementing the NationalStrategy for RDI. For the construction of the NP II, there have been taken into account the resultsobtainedupon analyzing the current status of the national economy and of theresearch, development and innovation system, the strategic objectives formulatedby the National Strategic Reference Framework for the period 2007 – 2013, theinternational conditions, as well as the perspective of Romanianintegration intoEuropean Union.
