Kindergarten Locomotor Skills Objectives: PE.K.MC.2.1 - Understand the meaning of words and terms associated with movement. PE.K.MS.1.1 - Execute recognizable forms of the basic locomotor skills. What does this mean to you? Your teacher will ask you to move using at least 4 of the 5 different basic locomotor movements during your Physical Education class. Basic Locomotor Movements: (Teaching cues) • Walk (from one foot to the other, one foot on the ground at all times) • Run (Fastest movement, like walking, but both feet off ground for brief moment) • Hop (leaving the ground on one foot and landing on the same foot) • Skip (long step and a hop forward with one foot and then the other) • Gallop (face forward, step with one foot that stays in front at all time, back foot chases)
