  1. Music on the web By Dakota McCarthy

  2. Introduction • My name’s Dakota, and I am a girl that’s currently sixteen years old. Over the years my taste in music has changed drastically. When I was younger I used to listen to bands like the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. Now though I don’t normally listen to that particular music. I suppose the radio, and television has influenced my taste in music. When I use the radio, I prefer to listen to C100.

  3. Fall Out Boy • Nowadays one of my favourite bands is Fall Out Boy. They recently came out with a new album called “Save Rock N Roll”.   4. Linkin Park • Another one of my favourite bands is Linkin Park. Linkin Park is an American rock band. Their most recent album came out in 2012, which is called “Living Things”. You can find them at www.linkinpark.com or check out their Wikipedia page, which is www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_Park. If you want to listen to their music you can look at their YouTube channel www.youtube.com/user/linkinpark.com.

  5. Hedley • Hedley is one more band I like. They’re a Canadian pop-rock band. Hedley’s lead singer Jacob Hoggard was on the television show Canadian Idol. On November 11th, 2013 they came out with a new album called “Wild life”.  You can look at their website www.hedley.com or their Wikipedia pagewww.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedley. If you want to listen to Hedley’s music, you can check out their YouTube www.youtube.com/user/hedley.com.

  6. Sites to purchase music • If you’re interested in purchasing music here’s how. There are multiple ways to buy music. Two popular ways are to use ITunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/ and Amazon http://www.amazon.ca/. On both of these sites you need to have an account. They have search bars that you can find your song or album. When you find one you like you click the purchase button. Another way to get music is from Wal-Mart www.walmart.ca. If you’re unable to reach a Wal-Mart store you can go on their online one, and order CD’s. This way is harder and since you’re getting a physical copy of the music if would take a while for it to be sent to you.

  7. African Music • Africa music naturally is fairly popular among the Africans. Their songs generally have a lot of different types of hand drums. Personally I am not a fan of this particular type of music, so I quit dislike it. If you want to listen to some African music go on this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leAiZRzVBBg.   8. Irish Music • Indigenous music, which has been labelled as traditional Irish music, is common in Ireland. The fiddle is one of the most important instruments used with this type of music.  I haven’t actually listened to Indigenous music so I have yet to form an opinion on it.   9. Rock Music • Rock music is known worldwide but it’s mainly popular in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The music originated as “Rock N Roll.” There are various different types of rock including classic, folk and many more.   11. Digital recorders/players • Obviously digital recorders vary in price and quality. According to http://digital-voice-recorder-review.toptenreviews.com/ the top three digital recorders is the Philips DVT, Sony ICD, and Olympus WS. Compared to some digital recorders which are hundreds of dollars these ones are reasonably priced. The Philips DVT is only 107.99 and the other two are much less.

  12. Summary • In conclusion I have learned a lot about music on the web. I haven’t even listened to African music before today, and Ididn’t even know what MIDI was. I will probably visit www.amazon.comand www.itunes.comagain.
