18. What to Include with your Application • Official Transcript – Required of ALL schools. (Fill out CDHS’s Transcript Request Form and return to Student Services. We will mail the transcript.) • Essay – school to school • Letter of Recommendation – school to school

FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/Free Application for Federal Student Aid • ALL colleges use this application • Cannot file until after Jan. 1, 2011, however apply for PIN number early in November or December to be ready. (http://www.pin.ed.gov/ ) • Based on family’s income and assets (uses tax return) • Can apply online (preferred) • Loans, grants, and some scholarships

CSS Profile • Used by UNC-CH, Duke, Wake, Davidson, as well as other schools • Can apply beginning in the fall (October 1) • Priority deadlines are usually before January 1! • Must apply online – https://profileonline.collegeboard.com • Applications also in the guidance office • Application cost - $25 (includes report to 1 school)
