  1. Student response guidance DACW Books

  2. Student Response Scaffold • VERY brief summary of discussion. E.g. • What was our topic….? • What stimuli did we look at? • What did they make us think about/what opinions did THEY have? • Summary of our final thoughts (this should be the main focus of the response). E.g. • Did we agree with their opinions? • Why? • What was OUR final opinion? • Signed and dated

  3. Example 1 This week our DACW topic has been “New Beginnings” we have studied and discussed a variety of quotes and images, related to this topic. My TFL had several thoughts about New beginnings such as, everyday can be the opportunity for having a new start and wiping the sale clean. We should learn from the mistakes of our past and use them to be better at facing new challenges. 07-09-12 Mrs R. Paginton

  4. Example 2 This week our DACW topic has been “Is everyone's death a tragedy” we have watched and discussed a variety of videos, relating to this. Some people believed that all death is a tragedy (e.g. Christians) even if it was someone who had done very bad things such as Osama bin laden. My TFL had several thoughts about all death being a tragedy such as, some peoples death may be less sad than others. This depends on the contribution they make to society, but this does not mean that we should celebrate it. This will only inflame people with alternative views and incite revenge. Ultimately celebrating death is not acceptable in a compassionate society – where do you draw the line? Do you celebrate someones death just because you don’t like them? 07-09-12 Mrs R. Paginton
