There are many different settings in this story but the main setting is in Danny Walker’s driveway. This setting is important in the story because, it’s someplace where Danny Walker and his dad Richie Walker have something in common; basketball. This was also someplace where know one could tell him he was to small. The book would be different because Danny Walker wouldn’t have a place to talk too his dad. Setting
The main conflict in this story is that everyone tells Danny Walker that he is to small. This conflict is man vs. society. because he is told by everyone not just one person so it isn’t just man vs. man it’s man vs. self. Conflict
The summary of the story is that Danny Walker is the smallest player on the team; on every team. Even so it usually doesn’t affect if he’s on the team. Not this time. With father problems and his mom’s financial issues there are a lot of problems for young Danny Walker. Summary of Plot
Height doesn’t measure skill. Text Evidence 1:Danny Walker small but fastest. Text Evidence 2: Danny Walker best passer in Middletown even though he’s small. Text Evidence 3: Danny Walker won the 7th grade travel championship even though he was small. Theme
This story is told in third person omniscient. Which means this story isn’t told from just one characters point of view. It lets you see what all of the characters are saying as well as what they are thinking. In a different point of view you may not know how some characters feel for example if this story was told in first person and it wasn’t from Richie Walker’s point of view you wouldn’t know that he is sad about not being abele to play basketball anymore. Point of View
A symbol in this book is Richie Walker’s sad eyes. It shows that Richie Walker is extremely depressed about what happened to him. In this story without this detail there would be no introduction on what ended his basketball career. Symbolism
I think that people who were told that they weren’t good enough or big enough for something then they should read this book, because this book shows that even though your small even though you may not be the best you can do great things. Recommendation
