Explorer growing up • Louis Joliet was born in Quebec in New France. • When he was seven his father died and his mother remarried a successful merchant. • When he as he was seventeen he entered Roman Catholic Society of Jesus. • After three years, Jolliet left the Jesuits and began following in the footsteps of his older brother.
FOOTSTEPS • His brother was a successful trader and voyageur. • Louise Joliet was a fur trader. • The things he traded were guns, knives, and other items. • After that he started to study to be in the priesthood. • But shortly dropped out of the priesthood at twenty two.
How he became a explorer • Louis, would probablyhave been to be selected to lead the expedition to the Mississippi river. • Louis acclaim as an explorer was diminished somewhat when his records and maps were destroyed at the end of his trip. • Also, his canoe got wrecked with the other things. • Although a year later he produced a map from memory.
The End Of the road • The day he died was a beautiful day in May, he died on the 22 the year of 1700 • The island he died on was Anicosti. • He really did die but no one found his body!
Fun Facts • Louis Joliet went with his family to be a fur trader. • Louis became a fur trader because he wanted to do what his family was doing.
