Rectus Abdominis • Action: • flex trunk
External Oblique • Origin: • lower 8 ribs • linea alba, pubic crest & tubercle, anterior superior iliac spine & anterior half of iliac crest • Insertion: • linea alba, pubic crest & tubercle, anterior superior iliac spine & anterior half of iliac crest • Innervation: • intercostal nerves 7-11, subcostal, iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerves
External Oblique • Actions: • flex trunk • laterally bend trunk
Internal Oblique • Origin: • thoracolumbar fascia, anterior two-thirds of iliac crest, lateral portion of inguinal ligament, iliacus fascia • Insertion: • lower 3-4 ribs, linea alba, pubic crest • Innervation: • intercostal nerves 7-11, subcostal, iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerves
Internal Oblique • Actions: • flex trunk • laterally bend trunk
Transverse Abdominis • Origin: • lower 6 ribs, thoracolumbar fascia, anterior 3/4 of iliac crest, lateral 1/3 of inguinal ligament • Insertion: • linea alba, pubic crest and pectineus • Innervation: • intercostal nerves 7-11, subcostal, iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerves
