Small Groups You will work in small groups to come up with a musical theater performance, capitalizing on the talents of each member, collaborating with each other to create positive, healthy dynamics, and challenging each other to stretch ingrowth areas.
Short Stories Each group member will be responsible for reading a short story from Santos’s collection, filling in a graphic organizer, and coming back to the small group having identified a major theme to share and discuss.
And Cultural Context As part of the small group performance, presentation and cultural context must be well-planned and expertly implemented. Our two sources of inspiration are the Penafrancia Fluvial Festival and Santos’s short story collection.
The WOW Factor Prepare to wow each other with the fabulous, well-organized, well-rehearsed, spectacular small group work you’ll perform! Some of these, and/or parts of some/all of these, will be implemented into Filipiniana; others or all will be performed at the December ensemble recital. The creative process will reveal more about the possibilities as we go along. Sorry, folks—no Disney allowed; let’s expand our musical theater repertoire into other realms.
