Installation – Accelerator Systems Installation Planning & Schedules Install org chart & planning 2007 Installations BTH -> FEH “2008” Installation
Installation Planning 2007 SLAC Shutdown SLAC downtime – September, October, November 2007 2007 Installation Planning Installation through BC2 & all cable plant; including cables through the BSY into the BTH West Using SLAC Schedule process for SLAC resource loading 2008 Installation Planning LCLS installations begin at Early Occupancy dates defined by TCCo & LCLS 2008 Installation schedule developed to begin detailed planning & integration process – refined by the rebaseline Early Co-Occupancy dates being defined Will follow on 2007 Installation learning curve and use P3 for detailed install schedule (shift work, multiple calendars, etc) Schedule shows Metrology work starting as early as December 2007
2007 Installation Schedule • LCLS 2007 Installation schedule includes: • Facilities Work • Sector 21 – 30 electrical • BTH West MEP & LCW • Cable Plant • Sector 24 – 30 • I&C and DC cables for BC2 • BSY Work • Cables from B005, B105, B106, B136 into BTH West • BPM S21 to BSY • Mechanical/Vacuum • Sector 24 – 29 removal and installations of BC2 & L3 • Controls • BCS; BC2 Magnet controls; Vacuum System; BC2 Timing System; BC2 MPS; BC2 Networks; BC2 Motion Control System
2007 Installation Schedule (cont) • LCLS 2007 Installation schedule, as of 10/19/07, contains 550 task lines • Shift work and multiple crews being used for Mech/Vac; shift work in schedule for Cable Plant work during PPS no access periods • Critical Path • As of 10/19/07, CP runs through BC2 • Removal of hardware - Cable plant and component install – cable terminations – cable testing; complete 11/23/07 • Magnet testing & checkouts need to interleave and follow cable completion through end of downtime • Further testing may need ROD periods
2007 Installation Schedule (cont) • LCLS 2007 Installation schedule 6/22/07 • BSY Work (for example) • Cable Plant from B005, B105, B106, B136 into BTH West • Requires Downtime (obviously) to install cables, therefore needed in 2007 down. Magnet loads not installed until ~March 2008, but need to checkout & commission before next downtime • Cable plant (Controls) install needs to be coordinated with BTH West MEP (LCLS CF)
BSY Work – B005 to BTH West Cable run from B005 through the BSY, into BTH West via ~12 small penetrations B005
2007 LCLS Installation Schedule 0 of 4 Started integrating schedules in July
2007 LCLS Installation Schedule 1 of 4 Status as of 10/19/07 Completed items removed
2007 LCLS Installation Schedule 4 of 4 Several Controls Systems schedules included: PPS, BCS, Magnet, Vacuum, MPS, etc.
2007 Installation Schedule (cont) Installation checks & balances • RSWCF for linac & cable way penetrations • ES&H review of Statement Of Work’s (SOWs) • Subcontractor installations • Appropriate training • Work authorization forms (WAF) • AD & LCLS forms • Radiation Work Permit (RWP) • Electrical safety for cable plant install & connection to PS • PO lockdown procedure being used
Shutdown Planning & Installation Schedule Installation Planning & Schedules BTH -> FEH 2008 Installation
2008 Installation Planning 2008 Installation Planning LCLS installations begin at Early Occupancy dates defined by TCCo BTH, Undulator Hall & Service Buildings available as early as December 5, 2007; NEH 12/21/07; X-ray tunnel 1/8/08; FEH 3/24/08; SB 2.3 late December TCCo has priority over co-occupied space until B.O. BTH-NEH B.O. 3/21/08; X-ray tunnel – FEH B.O. 6/23/08 NEH elevator not available until ~March 2008, will limit early equipment installation Subcontract SOWs are being prepared Need to ensure this work does not impact the 2007 installation effort, but stay on schedule (cable plant already slipped into February 2008)
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 1 of 7 • 2008 Schedule • Co-Occupancy dates defined • Major subcontracts used for installations • First activity is Metrology network installation 2007 Downtime LTU components connect to cables installed through BSY in 2007 downtime
LTU Hardware contained inside BTH West and BTH • Entry areas are East & West mazes, and openings at headhouse • Will plan access areas to limit interferences with Undulator and LTU installation phases West Maze entry pointHeadhouse entry East Maze – Undulator entry point SB 2.1 SB 2.2 BTH West tunnel SB 2.3 Undulator Hall
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 2 of 7 LTU components installed in BTH Undulator girder installation
33 Undulators 33 Quadrupoles/Correctors EM air-cooled 10 Long breaks 22 Short Breaks Supports with movers 5 DOF plus horizontal slider Vacuum System interconnects 33 rf Beam Position Monitors 33 Beam Finder Wires Wire Position Monitor Hydro static level system LCLS UNDULATOR SYSTEM
Egress space between aisle and back of undulators (cleared with Fire Marshal) Undulator Elevation
~430’ long Integration also means knowing what the facility looks like prior to installing equipment
Undulator Hall SB 2.3 SB 3.1 Beam dump/Fee area
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 3 of 7 E- Dump components installed FEE installation
LCLS 2008 Installation schedule • FEE systems are well along in the planning stages
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 4 of 7 NEH Installations; most of which are delayed into FY09
LCLS 2008 Installation schedule • NEH overview NEH Hutches
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 5 of 7 X-Ray tunnel and FEH installation delayed until FY2009
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 6 of 7 LTU ready – 8/11/08 Und ready – 10/15/08 FEE ready – 4/30/09
2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 7 of 7 2008 Downtime Systems ready for first electron beam into LTU & dump by 10/22/08 Commissioning activities leading to CD-4 2009 Downtime
Summary 2008 Installation Planning Early occupancy of Conventional Facilities will begin the installation process for technical systems Working to understand definition of early occupancy for each area Does not require Linac/PEPII down for LCLS installations BTH West installation puts some limits on beam operation to other areas like ESA Need to coordinate several subcontracts (~3-4?) to install mechanical systems and cable plant simultaneously Detailed Installation planning in process by coordinators
