Characteristics of Objectives • Precise • Vague – know, appreciate, understand • Precise – define, describe, repair, analyze • Measurable • Use action verb
Sample Objectives • Which are complete, well stated, and precise? • The student will learn the major parts of the internal combustion engine. • You will outline the dietary requirements for an adult female who is moderately active. • You will be given a list of terms, and you will know all terms listed.
Criteria for Well Written Objectives • ABCD Objectives • Audience – “The student” • Behavior – action verb • Condition – circumstances • Equipment, supplies, or materials provided • Materials denied access • Setting performance demonstrated • Information provided • Degree – Mastery level/Degree of proficiency
