Driving While Intoxicated • In 2005, 21.8% of the 1,257 Missouri motor vehicle deaths were alcohol related • A total of 274 people were killed and 5,219 were injured in crashes involving alcohol www.saveMOlives.com
Driving While Intoxicated • In Missouri, every 1.5 hours, someone dies or is injured in an alcohol-related crash
Driving While Intoxicated • No one is immune from the effects of alcohol-related crashes
Driving While Intoxicated • In 2005 in Missouri, there were 7,901 traffic crashes where alcohol was a contributing factor
Speeding • Increases crash severity • Increases braking distances • Has minimal effect on trip length

Inattention • Single largest factor in crashes • Easily preventable by eliminating distractions • Includes drowsy drivers
