Discuss the issues questionnaires • RESULTS: Problem statement for melian Basin • - Water management in the basin is very complex because of the multitude of stakeholders involved in water issues • - The rainfall in the Melian basin is low (450mm) • - Water supply is very dependent on the external importations of water • Discharge of Untreated wastewater (from sabkhat Sijoumi) into the Melian basin is causing pollution into marine environment • Groundwater is overexploited (150%), this situation lead to deterioration of the groundwater quality (salinity)
- Present the topological model of the melian basin - Make a critical review of the current model outputs Results 1.- Water Demand

Compare the performance of baseline scenario • Results • 1.- water scenarios • - Reduce the water exploitation of the groundwater • Create of a new treatment plant in the area, to exploit • the treated water for irrigation • - Management of sabkhat sijoumi by ONAS • The groundwater quantity by artificial recharge coming • from surface water (15Mm3) that is not exploited now
We constitute a steering committee with 7 stakeholders • INRGREF, CRDA, DGRE, UTAP, DG ACTA, ANPE • - Meeting every 3 months • - Give us the data missed and issues questionnaires • Work on economic evaluation, optimisation, water technology, water quality)
