Conclusions • Significant Progress in vulnerability reduction however… • Health sector has higher risk reduction requirement • Health facilities must be functioning after disaster • Successful stories should be compiled and disseminated
Conclusions • Structural vulnerability reduction is not enough. • Countries must have a health sector vulnerability reduction policy • Health facilities part of a network • Risk reduction in water distribution system is more complicated
Conclusions • Need to identify achievable targets following 6 WCDR goals • All new facilities must be resistant to natural disaster 2015 • Existing essential services must be functioning after disaster
