Aztecs • Central Mexico Area, capital: Tenochtitlan (present-day Mexico City) • Formed an Alliance, The Triple Alliance, to form the Aztec Empire • Comprised of city-states ruled by a king
Interesting Aztec Mythology • Originally wanderers • Huitzilopochtli, the sun god, would give them a sign • An eagle eating a snake on a cactus • Saw the sign, and settled down • Thought to be the site of their capital
