  1. Galen Rowell Galen Rowell was born in August 23, 1940. Rowell began climbing at a very young age like around ten. For the next fifty-two years Rowell climbed mountains and explored the wilderness. Rowell also began taking pictures when he explored the wilderness and the mountains, because he wanted to share it with his family and friends. After Rowell graduated from Berkeley high school around in 1958, and he stayed in Berkeley and studied physics in the university of California, Berkeley but then he dropped out after four years, so that he can do what he always loved, which was climbing. Around 1972 he sold his small automotive business to become a fulltime photographer.Rowell was a photographer that took photos of the outdoors, he loved to show others the beauty of the wilderness.

  2. View of O'Shaugnessy Dam, HetchHetchy Reservoir This photo was taken in 1987. the center of interest is mostly the beautiful mountain that is up close. What I really like and notice about this photo is that it has a little bit of reflection. Also in the background there is a lot of trees and it looks good and does not distract us from the center of interest. I would not change anything about this photo it shows the beauty of the outdoors, trees and other things.

  3. Aerial View of HetchHetchy Reservoir This photo was also taken in 1987. And Rowell took this photo at a distance which is very unique in a way and its not really in focus. The center of interest is the lake, and in the background is a lot of rock mountains which does try to distract us from the center of interest in a way. Rowell was showing us a different and unique ways of changing how mountains and lakes look. And I would not change this photo, I think it’s good as it is.

  4. Reflections in the Water of HetchHetchy Reservoir This was taken in 1987. You may notice that this photo also has reflection as well, and the center of interest would be the unique rock mountains that have reflection. This is actually my favorite photo out of all the others, I love how Rowell found a perfect photo of reflection and I also think this can be a rule of thirds. I would not change anything Rowell did at all.

  5. Base of Wapama Falls, HetchHetchy Valley This photo was taken in 1987. The center of interest is a huge rock mountain with a waterfall, and in the photo Rowell caught a beautiful photo of a rainbow. In the background you can see other mountains and a part of the lake and it also has reflection at the far back, but it does not take us away from the center of interest. I also like how Rowell shows us how unique a valley can be. I really like this photo and would not change anything.

  6. Reservoir View with Snow Rowell took this in 1987, and the center of interest are the mountains that have the beautiful snow on top of them. And I think Rowell wanted to show us how unique each mountain is like some have trees and others have a lot of snow, and green grass. Also in the photo there is a lake right in the middle but it does not distract us it actually makes the photo even better. I also think his photo has a rule of thirds. I think Rowell did a perfect job on this photo, and showed us how unique mountains are.

  7. Rainbow Over the Potala Palace This photo was taken in 1981 at the Potala Palace. I think the center of interest is the rainbow going over the Potala Palace. In the background there are mountains but they are not visible, so it does not distract us at all from what Rowell wants us to see. this photo is very beautiful and I would not change anything to this photo because it is beautiful that way.
