Non-Tenured Teachers: Summative Evaluation Process • Teacher notified • Pre-observation meeting to set process and date of observation • Teacher completes: • Pre-observation form • Data sheet • Reflection of lesson form • Multiple observations conducted • Reflection conference • Teacher and Evaluator sign Summative Evaluation
Non-Tenured Teachers: Important Information • Only summative evaluations! • A Pre & Post conference must occur • There are multiple observations • Both announced and unannounced • All forms must be completed • Evaluation must be completed by: • 1st/2nd year teachers: Dec. 1 & March 1 • 3rd/4th year teachers: April 1
Tenured Teacher:2 Options • Summative Evaluation • Same process as non-tenured • Must choose this option at least 1 time every 3 cycles • Principal has right to select Summative option for a tenured teacher • Professional Growth Plan • Individualized plan developed by the teacher to grow in a professional capacity • Plan developed collaboratively between teacher and evaluator
Tenured Teacher: Summative Evaluation • Same process as non-tenured • Final evaluation must be completed by May 1
Tenured Teacher: Professional Growth Plan • Meet with evaluator to discuss/approve PGP • Set Goals & Timeline (by October 15) • Teacher: • Maintain professional log of activities • Complete Interim Goal Evaluation Form • Complete Final Summary of PGP • Final meeting and sign final summary
Tenured Teacher: PGP Timeline • Meet by Oct 15 • 1 month to plan timeline and goals • Interim Evaluation completed and meeting before January 31 • Final conference before June 1 to review results • PGP may be revised, but must always be agreed to by evaluator and teacher • Remember that the “self-assessment” is optional!
