  3. Autobiography: Story of a person’s life written by that person • Memoir: First-person account of events in an author’s life • Biography: A written account of a person’s life written by someone else

  4. Narrative essay: Relates a true story • Expository essays: Explains a process • Persuasive essays: Promotes an opinion or position

  6. “Your honor, here is the evidence that a text is Nonfiction.” • Nonfiction text looks different from fiction: it may contain chapter titles and section headings that preview information.

  7. Each page may have words in a variety of fonts and sizes. • Bold or italic fonts may be used to signal important words or phrases. • Maps, charts, diagrams, and photographs may be included to illustrate or summarize information. • Captions or labels may be examined for relevant information.
