Hockey Hockey is one of are nations most played sports, it is played in so many different ways. There is ice hockey, ball hockey, field hockey, road hockey, and much more. Ice hockey was invented in the 1850’s in Nova Scotia, by the British soldiers. They used a rubber ball initially for the first games of ice hockey, and only a few basic rules. Later in the 1879 at the university of McGill in Montreal, the substituted the plastic ball with a rubber puck. Ice hockey is played on ice, there is boards surrounding the area of play. The object of the sport is to put the puck or other object, in the opponents net. When happened, it is called a goal. At the end of the game, the team with the most goals would win.
The picture to the left, is of the object that is used in the average game of ice hockey. It is made of rubber and weighs around 1.0lb. The picture to the right, is one of the most hardest objects in the world to win, The Stanley Cup. NHL (national hockey League) teams from all over Canada and the U.S.A play for this cup in over 87 games a season. The cup is named after Lord Stanley and has been around for a really long time. The picture above is an average look of the area that hockey is played. It is called an ice surface. The different lines are for different rules and regulations that affect the game play. For example, the blue lines in both halves of the surface may affect the rule of offside.
Badminton -Badminton was originated from a Indian game called Poona. It was brought into England by the army where the original rules were changed to the ones we are familiar with now. The first game of badminton was played by the Duke of Beaufort at his house party. -The game can be played in an indoor or outdoor court, You can choose to play singles or doubles. The game is played by hitting a light birdie with a racquet over the net to your opponents side. The object of the game is to not let the birdie fall on your side if you let it fall the opposing team gets the point. First team to 15 wins the round best 2 of 3 wins. -There are many rules in badminton so of them include It is a fault if server completely misses the birdie on the serve, A serve may not be delivered until the receiver is ready and No player may receive two consecutive serves in the same game.
To the right is a picture of a man demonstrating a drop hit one of the easiest ways to serve a birdie over the net to the other teams side. To the left is a picture of the court dimensions needed for a proper game of badminton. To the right is a picture of some birdies, birdies are the object being hit over the net instead of a ball. A birdie is used because it is light in weight and wouldn’t damage the racquet or hurt if you were hit by one.
Ping-Pong • Table tennis originated in England in the 1880’s as an after dinner amusement for the upper-class Victorians. Mimicking the sport of tennis in-doors. • Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is played with 2 or 4 players at a time. The object of the game is to hit a lightweight, hollow ball back and forth until a player misses the ball, or a foul is called. The player who didn’t cause the foul or miss the ball would get a point. The game takes place on a hard table with a net in the middle of the table. The play is fast and demands quick reactions.

Football - Modern Football started in 1958, but variations of the game were around since the 17th century, in such places as Virginia, England, and the United States. -There were two main variations of the game: a kicking game and a running game. A hybrid of both versions started later on, called the “Boston Game”. -An earlier version of the sport was banned by Yale and Harvard in 1861 due to the violent nature of the game. -The first game of college football was between Rutgers and Princeton, in 1869. The game involved two teams of 25 trying to kick the ball into the opposing teams side. No passing or running with the ball was allowed. The game ended 6-4 for Rutgers.

He was involved in making such rules as switching from 15 to 11 players, adding the line or scrimmage, and the snap from center to quarterback.
