Short Sea Shipping Statistics: strategic developments • European Maritime Transport Space without Barriers- simplifications for internal market- if simplification implies simplification of documents used for statistics  loss of statistics- destroying information in the « information society » ? strategic solution (ISC in Oct 2007 + letter Jan 2008 + ISC Nov 2008 + Commission Communication 404 of 10/8/2009 on future Eu statistics) • « E-maritime »- collecting the same information more efficiently (less costs higher quality)  drastically improving benefit/cost ratio for producing statistics- list of statistical variables to be e-collected under « e-maritime » Short Sea Shipping (SSS) and Motorways of the Sea (MoS) Focal Points Meeting
