BRAC RTF Workforce Demonstration Program Based on the WIRED proposal: “Meeting the Needs of America’s First Responders”
Workforce Demonstration Program • $5 million U.S. Department of Labor grant for a pilot program. • Integrates workforce development, economic development and education at the regional level. • Workforce Development Boards are co-leads. • Using our WIRED proposal as the basis for the workforce program. • Utilizes the BRAC RTF Board of Directors and staff.
Workforce Demonstration Program Strategies Strategy One – Thorough resource mapping; exhaustive analysis of emerging occupational and academic demands; gap analysis of existing and projected workforce requirements Strategy Two – Establishment of the All-American Center for Workforce Innovation as the transformational mechanism to create specific career tracks with specific industry-based programs.

Objectives for Today’s Meeting • Establish roles and participation of stakeholders. • Strategy 1 and 2 confirmation. • Confirm objectives and goals. • Refine concept for the All American Center for Workforce Innovation. • Confirm committed leveraged resources. • Answer questions/concerns

Establishing a Network Center WIRED proposal did not define a network center. Included funding for equipment and support. FTCC proposal: • Establish the All American Center for Workforce Innovation within the Virtual Learning Center at FTCC. • Network and telecommunications capabilities; smart classrooms; distance learning; and 3D interactive digital center. • Technicians and support included. • Leverages $9 million investment at FTCC.

Positions Needed Program Director for the WDP: • High achiever; superb program building and management skills; networking; community relations; salary $85,000. Program Manager for Workforce and Economic Development: • Business experience and savvy; workforce knowledgeable; understanding of economic development; salary $70,000. Communications and Outreach Director: • Excellent communications and media skills; program management; and social services; salary $70,000. Administrative Assistant: • Administrative and bookkeeping skills; salary $45,000.
