Acceptance We acknowledge and accept the report from the Special Education Leadership Collaborative
Purpose of audit: • The Atlanta Public School System requested the Urban Collaborative Team to conduct a self-improvement audit in order to: • Examine current practices and procedures of the Program for Exceptional Children (PEC) • Understand the perception of stakeholders regarding the provision of special education services
Current Changes and Activities • Restructured staff roles and responsibilities • Clearly defined all processes and procedures relating to state and federal compliance
Current Changes and Activities • Upgraded IEP online application • Refining accountability measures for all service providers • Identifying core instructional best practices for widespread implementation • Enhancing Customer and Stakeholder relationships
Next Steps • Respond to each Recommendation • Disseminate audit report to the public • Present audit report to stakeholder groups – including parents • Formulate a plan of action
