Today’s plan • Greeting • Polyomino Blow-Ups • Homework / Questions • Clean-up
Polyomino Questions • What happens when you double, triple, or quadruple a polyomino in both dimensions? • What’s the relationship between the scale factor and the ratio of perimeters? • What’s the relationship between the scale factor and the ratio of areas? • Why is 2’s answer different from 3’s?
Theorems: Perimeter & Area • If two triangles are similar, the ratio of their perimeters equals the ratio of their corresponding sides. • If two triangles are similar, the ratio of their areas equals the square of the ratio of their corresponding sides.
Homework / Lab • 50+ minutes between now and Monday: • Asgs #67-71 • Now, to the computer lab: • 15+ min: Take one of the recent proofs we’ve done; type it up neatly with appropriate diagrams from GeoGebra. • Khan Academy exercises – look for similarity and area • I’ll stop you with time left for the journal.
Clean-up / Reminders • Pick up all trash / items. • Push in chairs (at front and back tables). • See you tomorrow!
