Introduction • Relationshipis a link, contact or dealings between two people, or it is the feeling or association between two people. There is nothing wrong in male and female relationship as long as they treat each other with respect and purity.
Cont’d • Before embarking on any relationship, ask yourself why do I want to enter into the relationship? Where will it lead me? • People relate with one another, relationship can build you or break you, it can add value to your life or otherwise.
Cont’d As youth, sexual hormones are raging, male is attracted to female, and the female too is aware of herself, want to be noticed and seen around the male. Sexual temptation is everywhere, it is on billboards, TV, movies, radio, popular music and magazines. Each partner must make sure the hormones are controlled, do not allow your emotions to becloud your judgment, because what you do in a relationship matters a lot, every action has its own consequence.
Cont’d In any relationship, think of how you want to be treated? how do you feel about yourself when you are with someone else? In any healthy relationship, both people feel respected, supported and valued, decisions are made together, disagreements are settled with open and honest communication.
Cont’d Unhealthy Relationship involves: • One person tries to change another • One yells , threatens, hits, or throw things during arguments. • One person makes fun of other ‘s person opinion and interest. • One who use physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
Cont’d • Blames other people for anything that goes wrong. • Want to control someone else decisions • Post embarrassing information about people on the website. • Jealous about you. • Have no self control

In healthy relationship if something is bothering you, it is best to talk about it instead of holding it. • Never get into any relationship you cannot introduce to your friends or parent. • Your choice of who you will relate with must not be based on sentiments, pity or selfish motives
Cont’d • Relationship with the opposite sex must be platonic.(No sexual activities) • Relationships in terms of boy friend and girl friend can be a distraction to your studies. • If you are not well informed on sexuality it will be a problem for you now and in future.
Cont’d • Abstinence promotes sexual purity which encompasses not only abstaining from intercourse before marriage, but also abstaining from sexual thoughts, sexual touching, pornography andactions that are known to lead to sexual arousal. • Abstinence will save you from becoming a teenage mother, will save you from mansion of diseases, that can jeopardize your future.
Cont’d • Words of peers must not misled you, be principled and believe inyour self, focus on positive thoughts and your strengths be friends with mates who share yourvalues, for you to support each other, resist peer pressure.
Cont’d • A true relationship is mutually supportive and encouraging, therefore you spend time together without fear of being judged or shouted at. • Get courage to leave abusive or battering relationships otherwise it makes you feel inadequate, useless and fearful.
Cont’d • The only truly effective way to prevent sexual immorality is ABSTINENCE is the practice of staying away from or avoiding all forms of sexual activity. Reason for you to abstain is because you are a teenager and not adult, it will save you from all unpleasant consequences and most religion says NO to the act, it also has psychological, legal and social effect. Do not be in a hurry to have sex, say NO to pre- marital sex.
Cont’d • S –Say no effectively and often send a non-verbal NO with your body language for example with your hand, look directly at the person and maintain eye contact, stand straight and tall. • W – WHY, give clear reason for not engaging in sexual intercourse. • A- Alternative, suggest an alternative action. • T- Talk it out, discuss your feelings and do not compromise
Unhealthy relationship • Touching sensitive parts of the body(fondling) • Asking to touch someone’s private part • Rape(stranger, familiar and date) • Incest • Voyeurism(a person who gets sexual pleasure from watching others when they are naked)
Cont’d • Oral sex • Conversation involving sexual topics. • Pornography • Abortion • Lesbianism/gay • Sodomy(anal Intercourse) • Genital Mutilation • Bestiality.
Cont’d • Forcibly object penetration • Masturbation • Fingering. Chatting with pedophiles and strangers on the internet. AVOID ALL THE ABOVE
