We made our own planting pots out of newspaper and planted a seed…
We visited the herb garden and smelled herbs, our favourite was mint!
We learnt that apple trees produce more apples if they are grown like this!
We watched people planting seeds under protective nets called ‘cloches’; they stop the birds from eating the seeds and seedlings!
We made our own ‘rot pots’ (compost). Can you see what we have used? Answer: - Straw - Vegetable peelings - Ready made compost to help it get started. - Cling film on the top to keep it warm. Toby didn’t like waiting!
Next we visited a wormery. We couldn’t believe how important they are for our soil! We all promised to never squish a worm again!
We visited the old farmhouse kitchen… Could you cook on a stove like this?
We now know where our eggs come from… …and our streaky bacon!
