  4. Arkansas mandates at least 60 minutes of physical education and instruction and 90 minutes of physical activity per week in grades K-6. Surveys were sent to parents of 1st through 3rd grade students in the Jonesboro area. • ~1100 were sent • ~400 were returned • 60% of parents responded that they supported BMI assessments in public schools • 88% of the respondents reported that they believed schools should be involved in educating parents and children in matters of a healthy lifestyle Survey responses

  6. 88% of parents believe their child/children engage in sufficient amounts of physical activity at home • 78% believe their child/children receive enough physical activity at school • Are parents aware of how much physical activity is recommended for children?
